Great review in Saturday Guardian: ‘British boltholes’

Travel writer Sally Shalam visited us this summer and wrote this half-page piece for the Travel section in the Guardian, Saturday 3rd August. We were away at Camp Bestival that weekend but fortunately the Guardian was the festival’s ‘media partner’ so it was easy to get hold of a copy.

Easter publicity

Increasingly the job of publicising the wonderful Queens Hotel happens on-line instead of in hard print. Some recent virtual activity includes:

Matt Perry of the Queens Hotel on the High Street in St Ives (01736 796468, queenshotelstives.com) is making a name for himself in this gastropub with rooms. Delicious venision in winter and a Sunday roast draws a full house. There are also eight pretty bedrooms. Families welcome.

TripAdvisor reviews –
‘I stayed at the Queens for just two nights as I was on business in the area. I checked in at around 7.30 on the first night, food was still available thankfully. The room was gorgeous, really lovely and warm, beautifully finished. The bathroom was also well done, with a gorgeous big shower. Had dinner of veggie risotto and apple crumble which was really nice. The bed was very very comfy and the breakfast was really good. I must also recommend the fish and chips, absolutely gorgeous. The staff are also fantastic and gave me a really warm welcome.’ (March 2013)
