Spectator article on St Ives

Interesting and funny article here by Guardian writer Toby Young on the dual nature of St Ives, appeasing both himself (with arcades and fudge) and his more highbrow wife (with the art galleries).

New bedrooms 9 and 10 open

The builder Paul did stirling work and the two new bedrooms are now open for business. They look quite different from the bedrooms upstairs – we went for cream walls instead of white, and curtains instead of blinds – still sticking with Ian Mankin stripes but this time in natural colours instead of blue. Giant showers in the bathrooms and the squashy carpet make them feel pretty luxurious despite being compact in size. Thanks to Sue of Sew Nicely in Helston who made the curtains. The wall lights are from Garden Trading and the vintage travel posters were found on line. The exposed granite on the walls adds character and interest. As you can see from the photos, the sunlight floods in to the front of The Queens.
