Barman Jake decorated a Christmas tree for the first time in his life today, at the Queens. Nice job! Tree, a Nordic Fir, was bought from Lelant Garden Centre aka Wyevale, up the road. Hopefully the needles will stay on til NYE.image1 (2)

Another brilliant New Year’s Eve

Jan 31st 2014 saw another fun party night in town with a fantastic family atmosphere and crowds of revellers all dressed up. My favourite were four young men presenting themselves as the Jamaican bobsleigh team, complete with lycra outfits and a plastic sledge they rode all the way to the front. Last seen heading for the Rum and Crab Shack.

Mostly it’s touching up paintwork and repairs, eg replacing cracked radiator covers or shampooing carpets. The bedrooms have all been freshly painted and here’s a picture of room 8 up on the top floor:

And we also decided to paint the stairwell going up the bedrooms a traditional, bottle green colour and hang up some old mirrors. Here’s what it looks like today – before one more giant mirror goes in the alcove and the lightshade is fitted:
